Owner of the practice, Dr. Nichols attended the University of New England College of Dental Medicine, where he graduated with honors from Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. He was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award, and the American Academy of Periodontology student award. Growing up in Portland, he attended Deering High School and Lincoln Middle School. After high school, he sought the adventurous lifestyle and moved to Salt Lake City, UT earning his B.S. in Biology at the University of Utah. Dr. Nichols enjoys working with his patients and provides care in a compassionate manner that is individualized to each patient. Professionally, he is a member of the ADA, MDA and Casco Bay Study Club. In his free time, he enjoys fly fishing, snowboarding, camping, hiking, golfing and kayaking.
Dr. Alan Rich was born in Portland, ME. He attended Deering High School followed by Amherst College, where he earned a B.A. (cum laude) in English and played varsity rugby. Dr. Rich served in the U.S. Army Dental Corp in Heidelberg, Germany from 1978-1981, and since 1981 he has been in private practice here at 163 Pleasant Ave. Professionally, he is an active member of the ADA, MDA, and Casco Bay Study Club, and he has also served on the SAD15 Board of Directors for 15 years (10 years as chair). Dr. Rich is married with three grown children, and his hobbies include playing and refereeing rugby football, woodworking, playing guitar and banjo, hiking and mountaineering, and antique automobile and motorcycle restoration.
Lisa is going on 35+ years as a hygienist and has been with the office since 2002. She has recently transitioned to front desk duties but helps out in all aspects of the office. She is originally from Connecticut but has been a Mainah since college, getting her hygiene degree from Westbrook College (Now UNE) in 1984. She and her husband Steve have 4 wonderful adult children and an adorable family pup. When she's away from her desk, she enjoys gardening, boating at her camp on Little Sebago and taking cruises!
The daughter of Dr. Rich, Molly grew up in New Gloucester, ME and has been with the practice for 14+ years. She graduated from Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene in Boston in 2008 and cherishes relationships with her patients, who greatly enjoy visits because they are comfortable and full of laughs. Molly previously worked as a clinical instructor at UNE School of Dental Hygiene and an EMT for over 10 years. Outside of dentistry, Molly has a precious son, Tommy, with her husband, Hale and adorable Frenchies, Ellie & Arlee. She enjoys riding horses and downhill skiing.
Having grown up in Yarmouth, Courtney is a life-long Mainer and has been with the practice since graduating from Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene in 2012. She loves helping patients achieve and maintain optimal oral health, while helping them have beautiful smiles. Her favorite aspect of being a RDH is building strong rapport with her patients so that they always feel comfortable in our office. "Working in a small, family oriented, and patient centered practice like Deering Center Dental has been the perfect place for me to foster these various facets of care that I, along with the rest of the staff, care so deeply about." When she is not in the office, Courtney enjoys reading, knitting, baking, spending time outdoors, and doing CrossFit. Courtney resides in Scarborough with her husband, James.
Kait is our newest member of the practice, and is Dr. Nichols' assistant 4 days of the week. She is the momma of two adorable dogs, Willow and Maple. Kait has a great guy by her side, Steven and they reside in Poland.
